Philips - They only invented the thing...

The earliest Philips tape I own, late 1960s? Anyone got an inlay for one of these? Nice simple design. The felt pad has become detatched from the metal spring thing, so some careful surgery is in order, it's a sealed case... It's got some bloke being interviewed on it, recorded by someone who obviously thought the mic needed moving every 10 seconds...

An early 1970s example, and the first sighting of the legendary polka-dots...

Blue is the colour for 90 minutes of recording time. C120s were green. I purchased many of these from Agri Electrics in St. Asaph in my yoof... well, toddley years...

This style came in around 1977. This is a 'Super Quality', one step up from 'Standard Quality' which had a white rather than silver background. 'Floating Foil' refers to the little thin spacer sheets between the tape shell and the tape reels, designed to prevent jamming and uneven winding. £1.02p, eh?
